比較は、二つ以上のものの程度を比べて表す表現です。同じくらいだと述べる原級（as ~ as）、より上だと述べる比較級（-er / more ~ than）、いちばんだと述べる最上級（the -est / the most ~）の三つが基本の柱になります。さらに much や far による比較級の強調、the + 比較級, the + 比較級の連動構文、倍数表現や no more than などの慣用表現まで、レベル別に順を追って練習できます。
Tom is as as his older brother now.
as ___ as の形にはさむのは、比較級や最上級ではなく形容詞の原級です。したがって tall が正解になります。「同じくらい背が高い」という対等な比較を表す表現で、taller や tallest は as ~ as の中には入れられません。
August is the month of the year in Japan.
the と of the year があり、「一年で最も暑い月」という一番を表す最上級の文です。よって hottest が正解です。hot は短母音+子音字で終わるので t を重ねて hottest とし、more hot という形は作りません。
January is than March in most parts of Japan.
後ろに than があるので、二つを比べる比較級が入ります。cold は短い語なので -er を付けて colder とします。more cold という形は使わないため、colder が正解です。
She is the student in the whole class.
the と in the whole class（クラス全体で）があり、「最も賢い生徒」という最上級の文です。smart は短い語なので -est を付けて smartest とし、most smart とはしません。よって smartest が正解です。
you practice, the better your English will become.
「the + 比較級, the + 比較級」で「〜すればするほど、ますます…」を表します。後半が the better となっているので、前半も the を伴う The more が正解です。単なる More では、この連動する構文になりません。
This path is shorter than the one we took yesterday.
空所の後ろは比較級 shorter なので、比較級を強める語が入ります。比較級を強調できるのは far や much であり、far shorter で「はるかに短い」となります。very は原級を強めるので比較級には使えず、far が正解です。
My sister is just as as any other student in the drama club.
just as ___ as の形なので、はさむのは形容詞の原級です。talent は名詞、talents は複数名詞なので不適で、形容詞 talented が正解になります。more talented は as ~ as の中には入れられません。
He runs much than anyone else here.
後ろに than があるので比較級が必要で、fast の比較級 faster が入ります。文頭寄りの much は比較級を強める語で、「ずっと速く」という意味を添えています。more fast という形は使わないため、faster が正解です。
The new model costs as much as the old one.
「〜の何倍」を as ~ as の前に置いて表す倍数表現です。「2倍」は twice as much as ~ とするのが定型で、twice が正解になります。two-times や double をこの位置に置くのは不自然です。
She has than ten dollars; that's all.
that's all（それで全部だ）から、「10ドルより多くはない」つまり「せいぜい10ドルしかない」という意味になります。数量の上限を示す no more than の一部として no more が正解です。no fewer では逆に「少なくとも」という意味になってしまいます。
